The Denza Z9 GT is a new high-performance electric vehicle. It is positioned in the premium market segment, with an expected price of around £100,000. This places it in direct competition with established luxury electric cars like the Porsche Taycan. It aims to deliver significant power and advanced technology for a premium price.
The vehicle uses a three-motor electric powertrain. A single 309-horsepower motor drives the front wheels, while two independent 416-horsepower motors power the rear wheels. This combination produces a total output of 1140 horsepower, placing it among the most powerful electric vehicles available.
The independent rear motors enable unique capabilities. The car can perform a "crab walk," moving sideways, and can automatically parallel park by steering the rear wheels in unison. This rear-wheel steering is also useful in tight spaces, though it can make the steering feel heavy at low speeds. Additionally, the car is equipped with Lidar on the roof, a sensor system that prepares it for future autonomous driving updates.
The Z9 GT has a stated range of 372 miles on a full charge, which is competitive but not class-leading. Its most significant feature is its charging capability. It can accept power at up to 1500kW, allowing the battery to charge from 10 percent to 97 percent in just nine minutes at a compatible station. A quick top-up to add enough range to get home could take only a couple of minutes.
The Z9 GT has an estate, or "shooting brake," body style. The design features distinct creases along its sides and large taillights, but the front end is more conventional. It is a handsome vehicle, though not radically styled. Inside, the material quality is generally good, with extensive use of leather throughout the cabin, offering a premium feel.
